United States House of Representatives elections in Connecticut, 2012
The 2012 U.S. House of Representatives elections in Connecticut will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 to elect the five Congressional representatives from the state, one from each of the state's five Congressional districts. The elections will coincide with the elections of other federal and state offices, including a quadrennial presidential election, a U.S. Senate election, and state legislature races.
Primaries for the Republican and Democratic parties, if necessary to select party-endorsed candidates, will take place on Tuesday, August 14, 2012.[1]
The current state Congressional delegation, elected in 2010, consists of five Democratic representatives.
District 2
Democratic incumbent Joe Courtney, who has represented the 2nd district since 2007, said in February 2011 that he would not run for the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated by Joe Lieberman.[2]
Daria Novak, a business consultant and former State Department employee who ran unsuccessfully in the Republican primary for the 2nd district in 2010, said in April 2011 that she would run for the seat again. State representative Christopher Coutu has formed an exploratory committee and was, as of April 2011, considering running.[3]
Dan Reale, the chair of the Libertarian Party of Connecticut, declared his candidacy in 2010. As of April 2011, G. Scott Deshefy, who ran for the seat in 2008 and 2010, had yet to decide whether he would run again.[3]

Democratic incumbent Jim Himes, who has represented the 4th district since 2009, said in December 2010 that he would not run for the U.S. Senate in 2012.[5]
Chris Meek, the founder of START Now!, a non-profit organization;[6] Steve Obsitnik, the chair and chief executive of Quintel Technology;[7] and David Orner, an executive with CIT Group,[8] will seek the Republican nomination to challenge Himes. Former state senator Dan Debicella, who unsuccessfully challenged Himes as the Republican nominee in 2010, may also seek the Republican nomination.[8]

District 5
Incumbent Democrat Chris Murphy has represented the 5th district since 2007. Murphy has announced that he will not seek re-election for a fourth term. He will instead run for the U.S. Senate to replace Independent Democrat Joe Lieberman, who has announced he will be retiring from the Senate.[9]
Chris Donovan, the speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives;[10] Elizabeth Esty, a former state representative;[11] and Daniel Roberti, who works for a public relations firm,[12] are running for the Democratic nomination. Mike Williams, an advisor to Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, had planned to run;[13] however he suspended his campaign in October 2011.[14]
Justin Bernier, a member of former Governor Jodi Rell's cabinet who ran for the seat in 2010;[15] Mike Clark, the chair of the Farmington Town Council and a former FBI agent;[16] businessman Mark Greenberg, who also ran in 2010;[12] state senator Andrew Roraback;[17] and businesswoman Lisa Wilson-Foley[18] are running for the Republican nomination. State senator Rob Kane may also run.[19] Sam Caligiuri, a former state senator who unsuccessfully challenged Murphy as the Republican nominee in 2010, said in February 2011 that he would not run again.[20]
John Pistone will run as an independent write-in candidate.[21]
